CAF President Patrice Motsepe has revealed that Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy faced an unexpected delay at a Moroccan airport while en route to headline the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concert in Rabat.
During a recent press briefing, Motsepe disclosed that the music star was briefly detained by customs officials over an issue involving his jewelry.
According to the CAF President, the situation was quickly resolved after he personally intervened.
“Recently I was called that I need to intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,” Motsepe said.
Despite the setback, Burna Boy went on to headline the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on January 16.
The event also featured performances from Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy and Moroccan artists Stormy and Jaylann.
