American rapper and streamer Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., professionally known as DDG, has revealed that his streaming career generates more income than his music.

In a recent livestream with Nigerian content creator Carterefe, DDG claimed that streaming outpaces music financially. “Streaming pays more than music. For real, streamers make more money than artistes,” he said.

DDG began pursuing music professionally in 2016 and gained recognition with his hit single Givenchy from his debut EP Take Me Serious, released in 2017. The 28-year-old also started streaming in 2014 and eventually left Central Michigan University to focus on his YouTube career full-time.

The revelation highlights a growing trend where online content creation and streaming have become highly lucrative avenues for artists alongside traditional music careers.
