Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has shared insights into how his team successfully combated piracy while distributing his latest film, Ageshinkole 2: King of Thieves 2, through community screenings.

In a candid interview, Adebayo explained that piracy was effectively handled by one of his collaborators, Circuit TV, whose robust distribution framework prevented unauthorized duplication of the film. The strategy, combined with the expertise of his distributor, Blue Pictures, helped the movie record impressive box office numbers, grossing over ₦400 million within the first 12 days of release.

“Piracy was fully handled by Circuit TV. They have an extremely wonderful structure in which the content they have can be pirated. Then with Blue Pictures, my distributor, we brought together our experience and we had no doubts that with our logistics and framework, we would get it right,” he said.

Community Cinema Tour: A New Distribution Model

In December 2025, Adebayo announced a unique community cinema tour for Ageshinkole 2, aimed at taking the film directly to local communities across Nigeria. The move was framed as a way to give back to fans while also innovating film distribution beyond traditional cinema releases.

The sequel, building on the success of the original Ageshinkole, promises deeper drama, suspense, and culturally rich storytelling. Screenings were scheduled to run across various local areas from December 2025 into early January 2026.

Adebayo’s approach is being seen as a new model for Nollywood distribution—one that prioritises accessibility, community engagement, and strategic piracy prevention, while still achieving strong commercial success.
