The gospel artiste revealed that his music career began at a very young age in his father’s church, an experience he described as the foundation of his growth into what he now considers one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous gospel lyricists with an expanding global reach.
Mr. Gbera recounted several testimonies associated with his music, noting that his songs have brought hope, healing and emotional restoration to people facing intense personal struggles. He shared the experience of a woman in Abeokuta who lost two children within one month and, while battling suicidal thoughts, found renewed strength after listening to his songs.
He also spoke about a man in Ikeja, Lagos, who lost his twins and became emotionally withdrawn until he encountered Mr. Gbera’s music online. According to the singer, the experience helped the grieving father regain emotional freedom and begin the process of healing.
Beyond Nigeria, the gospel artiste said similar testimonies have emerged from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. He highlighted the story of a young man in the U.S. who lost all his property and had drifted away from God, but later recommitted his life to faith and began rebuilding after encountering his music.
Mr. Gbera attributed these experiences to divine inspiration, stressing that his creative energy is drawn directly from God. He said this spiritual source fuels his passion for songwriting and his desire to make positive, life-changing impacts through music.
Speaking on the demands of his career, the singer said he has not grown weary of the journey despite the sacrifices associated with public life, including limited personal time and reduced privacy. He explained that his frequent travels are driven by a desire to connect with fans physically and expand his global reach, as many listeners express interest in experiencing his music and ministry in person.
Describing his sound as Afro-fusion inspirational gospel music, Mr. Gbera praised the steady growth of Nigeria’s music industry and its rising global influence. He expressed pride in contributing positively to the sector and optimism that Nigerian music would continue to gain wider international acceptance.
He also noted that his strength as a musician and lyricist lies in the natural fusion of both talents, describing them as complementary gifts that work seamlessly together.
Looking ahead, the gospel singer disclosed that he is currently working on new songs and collaborations with fellow gospel artistes, promising listeners more impactful and spiritually uplifting sounds. While he said all his songs are special to him, he identified fan favourites such as Iriri, Olorun Lo N Mumi Bo and Alanu Lo Njagun Aye Mi as frequently requested during live performances.
Mr. Gbera advised upcoming gospel artistes to remain innovative, prioritise their relationship with God, believe in their calling and maintain a strong prayer life, stressing that spiritual depth remains essential for long-term success in the gospel music industry.
