Nigerian chef and restaurateur Hilda Baci has been officially confirmed as a three-time Guinness World Records holder, after Guinness World Records recognised an additional title from her September 2025 jollof rice attempt.

The global record-keeping body communicated the development to Baci via an email dated January 16, 2026, signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at Guinness World Records’ Records Creative Team. The message revealed that her record-breaking feat exceeded the originally announced title.

Additional Title Awarded for Same Attempt

Guinness World Records explained that during the September 2025 attempt—where Baci and her team successfully achieved the record for the “largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice”—they also met the criteria for another existing category.

As a result, Guinness World Records said it had “proactively awarded” her an additional title for the “largest serving of rice.”

This means the September 2025 event now counts as two separate Guinness World Records, bringing Baci’s total to three.

Guinness Confirms Criteria Met for Both Categories

The organisation said that after comparing the record guidelines for the two titles, it became clear that the quantity of rice prepared during the jollof rice attempt satisfied the criteria for both categories.

Baci shared the email on Instagram, revealing she was unaware that her jollof rice attempt had also qualified for the largest serving of rice record until she received the message.

“Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” she wrote. “What I thought was one record turned out to be two.”

She added that the confirmation arrived about five months after Guinness World Records had publicly announced her jollof rice record.

“When I and Gino Nigeria broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was it,” she said. “What I didn’t know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall.”

A Journey of Record-Breaking Achievements

Baci first gained international recognition in May 2023, after completing a cooking marathon that earned her a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon at the time.

Her second major Guinness recognition came in September 2025, when she led a team effort that produced the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, an event held in Lagos and supported by Gino Nigeria.

With the newly confirmed additional title, the September 2025 attempt now accounts for two separate records: one specific to Nigerian-style jollof rice and another covering rice dishes more broadly.

Baci described the recognition as a reminder that achievements can have deeper significance than initially realised. She also credited her team for their effort and thanked Guinness World Records for the formal recognition.

“To my incredible team, this is our win,” she wrote. “Every long day, every detail, every push, it all mattered.”

With this confirmation, Hilda Baci now holds three Guinness World Records titles, further cementing her status as a leading figure in culinary excellence.
