Lagos is preparing for a romantic and emotionally charged Valentine season as acclaimed theatre director Austine Onuoha unveils his latest stage production, The Bride, a romantic musical poised to captivate audiences throughout February.

Blending love, mystery and music, The Bride tells a haunting story centred on a groom who vanishes on his wedding day, leaving behind a bride caught between heartbreak, hope and lingering questions. As the narrative unfolds, the audience is drawn into an intimate exploration of love’s fragility, resilience and the emotional toll of interrupted dreams.

Set against a rich musical backdrop, the production delves into the courage required to persevere when fairytales unravel. Its emotional depth is heightened by original music and a carefully crafted atmosphere that underscores both romance and suspense.

Designed as an immersive outdoor theatrical experience, The Bride aims to move beyond conventional stage storytelling. Through live music, evocative staging and close-up performances, the production blurs the line between audience and actors, allowing spectators to feel fully embedded in the bride’s emotional journey.

The play features a strong ensemble cast including Sharon Adaeze, Ralph Okoro, Theodora Omo and Justin Ben, whose performances anchor the story’s emotional core. Music direction is handled by Peter Dirodola, whose compositions reinforce the play’s themes of love, longing and uncertainty.

Scheduled to run throughout weekends in February at Terra Kulture, The Bride adds a distinctly theatrical flavour to Lagos’ Valentine offerings, positioning itself as a must-see for lovers of drama, music and live performance during the season of romance.
