The handover followed the swearing-in of Hon. Omidiran by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last Thursday. Oladele had overseen the Commission in an acting capacity since July 2, 2025, after the departure of the immediate past substantive Executive Chairman, Muheeba Farida Dankaka.
Speaking at the ceremony, Omidiran expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her and commended Oladele for providing steady leadership during his nearly seven-month tenure. She described the period as one marked by stability, continuity, and institutional balance.
She assured commissioners and management staff of an inclusive leadership style, pledging to uphold transparency, fairness, and national cohesion in the discharge of the Commission’s constitutional responsibilities. Omidiran also emphasized her readiness to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to strengthen the FCC’s operations and impact.
Oladele’s stewardship, she noted, ensured a smooth transition process characterised by professionalism and cooperation across the Commission.
After the ceremony, the new Executive Chairman submitted official handover documents to the Commission’s Verification Committee for review and proper documentation. She also announced the constitution of several statutory and ad hoc committees aimed at improving internal processes and enhancing the Commission’s overall effectiveness.
Omidiran previously represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2019.
The event was attended by the Secretary of the Commission, Mohammed Musa, state commissioners, senior officials, key stakeholders, and members of the media.
