Speaking on the What I Know podcast hosted by Korty EO with Shaffy Bello, the Love Me Jeje crooner explained that while all three artists have achieved global success, their impact extends beyond music in varying dimensions.
Sodimu said that Wizkid’s influence is unique, Burna Boy’s is purely musical, and Davido’s influence goes beyond the music industry.
He suggested that Davido’s reach is so wide that it could translate into political power, claiming that the singer could win a governorship election, while Burna Boy could not.
“The [Afrobeats] Big 3, each one is doing it [music] for different reasons. Burna Boy has conquered the stage. And he is good. Wizkid is special. And Davido surpasses music.
“What do I mean by that? If Davido ran for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy could win as a governor,” Sodimu said.
Sodimu’s comments echo earlier predictions from public figures who have suggested that Davido may one day pursue political office.
Last year, former senator Ben Maurice Bruce said Davido could eventually become the governor of Osun State — a claim that aligns with Davido’s family ties to the state. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current governor.
As Afrobeats continues to shape global music, the debate over the influence and future roles of its biggest stars remains a hot topic — with many watching to see whether their cultural power could one day translate into political leadership.
