Taylor Swift continues her dominance of the U.S. albums chart as The Life of a Showgirl returns to No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking another milestone in the singer’s already record-setting career.

According to Luminate, the album earned 81,000 equivalent album units in the latest tracking week. That total includes 47,000 streaming equivalent units and 33,000 pure sales—figures strong enough to keep the project on top during what is traditionally a slower sales period in January. The performance also allows The Life of a Showgirl to simultaneously lead both the Billboard 200 and the Top Album Sales chart once again.

With its latest week at No. 1, The Life of a Showgirl now boasts 12 total weeks atop the Billboard 200. That achievement pushes the album past two of Swift’s most iconic releases, Fearless and 1989, which each spent 11 weeks at No. 1 and both went on to win Grammy Awards for Album of the Year. As a result, The Life of a Showgirl becomes Swift’s second-longest-running chart-topper in the U.S.

Only one Swift album has enjoyed a longer reign. The Tortured Poets Department, released in 2024, remains her most dominant project, having led the Billboard 200 for 17 nonconsecutive weeks beginning in May of that year.

The Life of a Showgirl first debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated October 18, 2025, making headlines with a historic opening week of just over four million equivalent units. That debut marked the first time an album crossed the four-million mark in a single week, fueled by massive streaming and sales despite the project initially being available only as a complete body of work.

Since its release, only one act has managed to interrupt Swift’s run at the top. In early December, South Korean group Stray Kids briefly displaced her with their EP Do It, which opened with nearly 300,000 equivalent units. Swift’s album quickly reclaimed the top position and closed out 2025 as the Billboard 200 leader, carrying that momentum into the opening weeks of 2026.

Beyond the main albums chart, The Life of a Showgirl also sits at No. 1 on the Vinyl Albums chart and remains a strong presence across Billboard’s rankings. It narrowly misses a clean sweep this week, climbing to No. 2 on the Top Streaming Albums chart, where Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem holds the top spot.

Whether The Life of a Showgirl can eventually match or exceed the 17-week run of The Tortured Poets Department remains uncertain. While the album continues to lead, its weekly totals are relatively modest, and increased competition is expected as more major releases arrive in 2026. Still, with ongoing promotion and Swift’s unmatched commercial pull, the album’s reign is far from over.
