Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid and Asake have finally delivered their first official collaborative single, “Jogodo,” marking a major moment for fans who have been anticipating a full joint project from the duo. The track was released on streaming platforms early Friday and is the lead single from their upcoming EP, Real (Vol. 1), set to drop on January 23.
A Seamless Blend of Styles
“Jogodo” showcases the strengths that have made both artists global superstars. Wizkid delivers his signature smooth, understated vocals while Asake brings his energetic, street-infused intensity. The contrast creates a dynamic track that fits both relaxed listening sessions and lively nightlife atmospheres.
The song is delivered in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin, with lyrics focused on attraction, confidence, and the energy of the night. Its catchy chorus is designed for easy sing-alongs, making it a strong contender for mainstream success.
Lyrics That Stick
The chorus, built for memorable repetition, features the duo singing:
“No be for here, you go jogodo / Say tonight you go dey know, know, know / O fe pa mi with ogogoro / No be today we dey kpo, kpo / Bobo, your body dey pololo (Yeah) / Yepa, your body don dey tongolo (Yeah) / I found the money ’til tomorrow-row / Baby, baby, jowo, omo Ọlọ́run, fine bobo / Jowo maje o jabo.”
EP Tracklist Confirmed
Asake confirmed on Instagram that Real (Vol. 1) will feature four tracks:
- Jogodo
- Turbulence
- Iskolodo
- Alaye
A First Official EP, But Not the First Collaboration
Although this is the duo’s first official extended play, Wizkid and Asake have worked together before. Wizkid featured Asake on “Bad Girl” from his 2024 project Morayo, while Asake included Wizkid on “MMS” from his debut album Lungu Boy.
The Build-Up
Interest in the project surged in early December 2025 after both artists confirmed they were working on a joint project during an Apple Music Radio takeover. Wizkid teased the release, telling listeners:
“Special announcement: 2025, clear road. Mr Money and Big Wiz—our project is called Real, and it will be released this December for the people. Do you understand? One time, Vol. 1.”
Shortly after, Nigerian-American DJ Michael “DJ Tunez” Adeyinka added fuel to the excitement by posting a snippet of the project on his X page, further confirming the buzz around the release.
With “Jogodo” already gaining traction, fans are now counting down to the EP release, anticipating what promises to be one of the biggest Afrobeats collaborations of the year.
