Beyond the breakthrough: When one woman rises, communities rise.

In celebration of Women’s Month, ALX Africa is set to convene a dynamic virtual gathering that shines a light on the achievements and transformative journeys of African women driving change in technology, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy. The event will bring together influential voices and emerging leaders from across the continent, creating a space for reflection, inspiration, and shared learning.

The session will be hosted by Oyin-Johnson Awoniyi, whose leadership within the organization continues to support inclusive growth and opportunity. Setting the tone for the event, poetic provocateur Ashanti Kunene will deliver an evocative opening, drawing on her work as the founder of Learning to Unlearn to challenge perspectives and inspire new ways of thinking.

A major highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli, a globally respected leader in international development with more than 25 years of experience. As CEO of ONE Campaign, she has played a pivotal role in advancing social impact initiatives, particularly across Africa. Her extensive portfolio also includes leadership roles as Executive Director of FATE Foundation and founder of LEAP Africa and African Food Changemakers. Beyond these, she contributes her expertise to global and corporate boards such as Rockefeller Foundation, Stanbic IBTC Group, and the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders.

The event will also feature a compelling panel discussion centered on the theme, “What changed after I said yes to myself.” This conversation will highlight women from the ALX community who have translated their learning experiences into tangible impact within their respective fields.

Among the featured panelists are Valentine Muriuki, a Salesforce Administrator working with global companies; Philile Ngubane, founder of The Office Ship; and Mariam A. Abdrabu, founder of The Meem English Community. Through their stories, attendees will gain insight into how African women are leveraging access to education and digital tools to unlock opportunities—not just for themselves, but for others within their communities.

With an expected audience of 1,500 to 2,000 participants, the virtual event will draw a diverse mix of learners, alumni, industry professionals, and stakeholders from across Africa and beyond. It promises to be a powerful gathering that underscores the importance of empowering women as key drivers of the continent’s future.
