Police in Los Angeles responded to reports of gunshots at the Beverly Hills residence of pop superstar and entrepreneur Rihanna on Sunday afternoon, though thankfully no one was injured.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) received calls around 1:15 p.m. local time (21:15 GMT) about shots fired. Authorities later apprehended a suspect in connection with the incident. According to reports from US media partner CBS News, the targeted property belonged to Rihanna, and investigators discovered casings from an assault rifle at the scene.
A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that Rihanna was inside the home at the time of the attack, but she and her family were unharmed.
Police have identified the suspect as a woman in her 30s, who reportedly fired seven shots from a vehicle parked outside the property before driving away. Officers later located the vehicle approximately 12 km from Rihanna’s residence, where the suspect was taken into custody. Her name has not yet been released publicly.
Rihanna, born Robyn Fenty in Barbados, is known worldwide for her music career, which began in the early 2000s with hits like Pon de Replay and Umbrella. Beyond music, she has built a formidable business empire, including her makeup brand Fenty Beauty and lingerie line. Forbes estimates her net worth at over $1 billion.
The singer is also a mother of three. She welcomed her third child, a daughter with partner A$AP Rocky, in September last year. The couple, who already have two sons, Riot and RZA, announced the news at the 2025 Met Gala.
This incident comes months after A$AP Rocky was found not guilty of discharging a firearm during a legal case involving a former friend. Rihanna attended the trial with her first two children.
Authorities continue to investigate the Beverly Hills shooting to determine the motive and ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
