Born in Ryan, Oklahoma, Norris first gained prominence as a martial arts champion before transitioning into a celebrated acting career. He became a household name for his portrayal of Cordell Walker in the long-running television series Walker, Texas Ranger, which cemented his status as an iconic figure in popular culture.

Before his fame on screen, Norris served in the United States Air Force and achieved remarkable success in martial arts competitions. He later founded his own fighting system, Chun Kuk Do, blending his extensive knowledge of multiple disciplines. Over his lifetime, Norris earned black belts in Karate, Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and judo, reflecting his dedication to martial arts mastery.

Unlike many of his contemporaries, Norris found success across both television and film. Later in his career, he reached a new generation of fans through cameo appearances in films such as Dodgeball (2004) alongside Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller, and The Expendables 2 (2012). While he gradually reduced his on-screen appearances with age, his influence on martial arts and action cinema remained significant.
