In a communiqué following the Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) held at the Government House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, the NFF specifically lauded the President for his commitment to sports through enhanced budgetary provisions. Delegates highlighted that his encouragement has been tangibly reflected in “generous financial rewards” to players and officials of National Teams who excelled internationally, as well as in funding for team preparations and participation in global championships.
“This support and encouragement have been demonstrated severally in generous financial rewards to players and officials of the National Teams that excelled in international championships, as well as financial provision for the preparation and participation of the teams in these championships,” the NFF stated.
The EGA also commended the leadership of the National Sports Commission, including Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko, who addressed the assembly in person, and Director-General Hon. Bukola Olopade, for their efforts in steering Nigerian sports toward growth and international competitiveness.
Delegates further praised the Government of Bayelsa State, led by Governor Douye Diri, for supporting football development in the state, and acknowledged the warmth and hospitality extended by both the government and residents in hosting delegates from across the federation. Special recognition was also given to Deputy Governor Pastor Peter Pere-Tubo Akpe, PhD, for his presence and pledges of continued support for the NFF.
