Scheduled for September 25–27, the three-night event will take place at a specially constructed venue—dubbed the “Shakira Stadium”—within the Iberdrola Music space in the Villaverde district. The temporary 4.2-acre site is designed to go far beyond a traditional concert setting, blending music with curated elements of cinema, gastronomy, literature, and art exhibitions under the theme Es Latina.
The project, announced by Live Nation, reflects a growing trend in Europe toward immersive, artist-controlled concert environments. Similar large-scale, temporary venue concepts have been seen in recent productions, including Adele’s Munich residency in 2024, where performers take greater control over staging, storytelling, and audience engagement.
A Custom-Built Experience
Shakira first hinted at the масштаб of the Madrid shows in a preview interview with RTVE’s Al Cielo Con Ella, describing the production as unprecedented for Spain. According to the singer, the bespoke venue will allow her to “go all out,” delivering a spectacle unlike anything previously staged in the country.
The Madrid residency forms part of her ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which has already cemented its place in music history. Launched in February 2025, the tour has become the highest-grossing ever by a Hispanic artist, generating over $421 million and selling 3.3 million tickets across 86 shows.
Record-Breaking Momentum
The tour’s success has been particularly evident in Latin America. In Mexico City, Shakira set new attendance records at the GNP Seguros Stadium with 13 consecutive sold-out performances, drawing more than 800,000 fans. She later capped her run in the country with a massive free concert at the Zócalo, attracting an estimated 400,000 attendees.
The momentum continues to build globally. Before arriving in Spain, Shakira is set to perform on May 2 at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro—one of the world’s most iconic open-air venues. Organizers anticipate a crowd of at least one million people, echoing recent large-scale performances by Madonna and Lady Gaga at the same location.
A Landmark Moment
The announcement also comes amid renewed industry recognition for the Colombian superstar, following her recent nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Tickets for the Madrid residency are set to go on sale March 27, with strong demand expected given the tour’s global success and the unique format of the shows.
As anticipation builds, the Madrid residency is shaping up not just as a series of concerts, but as a cultural showcase—one that reinforces Shakira’s position as a global force in music and live entertainment.
