The official trailer for The Other Side of the Bridge, a new action-drama by filmmaker Demi Banwo, has been released on social media, generating excitement among movie enthusiasts ahead of its cinema debut.

Produced by Depth and Optics Production, the film tells the story of two fighters from different backgrounds in Lagos whose paths collide inside the ring. Banwo plays Femi, a determined fighter seeking redemption and a chance to prove himself, while Tobi Bakre stars as Farooq, a man literally fighting for his life.

Both characters eventually meet in a dramatic showdown at the fictional Titan Tournament, where the winner takes everything.

The two-minute trailer teases intense action sequences, including raw training sessions and gritty fight scenes that highlight the determination of athletes working without access to elite facilities. It also features moments from a press conference scene and short glimpses of the climactic fights, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.

Industry observers say the project reflects a growing trend among Nigerian filmmakers to explore fresh and authentic stories that are often underrepresented in mainstream cinema.

Speaking about the project, Banwo revealed that the film took several years to complete.

“Four years of my life have gone into making this film, and the experience gave me a newfound respect for anyone who ventures into filmmaking because there were so many times it looked like this film wouldn’t happen. But here we are,” he said.

He added that more details about the filmmaking journey would be shared later, urging audiences to enjoy the teaser in the meantime.

The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Ireti Doyle, Olarotimi Fakunle, Mike Afolarin, Seun Ajayi, Lasisi Elenu, Chisom Mbonu and Njoku Udoka.

The project is produced by Tolu Lord Tanner, Adetoro and Banwo, with 21 Real Estate Company and Banwo serving as co-producers, while Art Anekwe worked as the production designer.

“The Other Side of the Bridge” is scheduled to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on April 17, 2026, adding to the growing slate of locally produced films expected to make an impact at the box office.
