Senegalese-American singer Akon has sparked conversation after stating that his life was less complicated when he was involved with multiple women.

The 53-year-old music star made the remark during an interview on The Shade Room, where he reflected on his past relationships and long-held views on polygamy.

“My life was a lot easier when I had multiple women surrounding me. It is a lot harder with just one woman,” he said.

Akon, who has previously spoken openly about his belief in polygamy, suggested that monogamy presents greater personal challenges compared to his earlier lifestyle.

The comments come months after his wife of 28 years, Tomeka Thiam, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The development has continued to draw attention to the singer’s personal life alongside his music career.

Akon rose to global fame in the mid-2000s with a string of hit singles and has remained a prominent figure in both American and African entertainment circles.
