Nigerian singer Crayon has shared personal details about his early experiences in the music industry, including his admiration for fellow artist Tiwa Savage and his exposure to substance use.
In a recent interview with streamer Caterefe, Crayon revealed that he had a “massive crush” on Tiwa Savage during his early days, particularly around 2018 when he was affiliated with Mavin Records, the label both artists were connected to at the time.
The singer also alleged that it was during this period he was first introduced to a substance known as “Backy,” a street term used to describe a mix of illicit drugs typically rolled into a blunt. According to him, the encounter happened casually during a conversation about smoking.
He claimed that the experience marked the beginning of his use of the substance, which he said later developed into a habit.
Crayon’s revelation has sparked conversation around the pressures young artists may face within the entertainment industry, particularly regarding lifestyle influences and substance exposure.
While neither Tiwa Savage nor her representatives have publicly responded to the claims, the disclosure adds to ongoing discussions about personal responsibility, influence, and the challenges that can come with navigating fame at an early stage.
