The Super Eagles midfielder was shown a red card late in the 2–2 draw on March 31 in Turkey after reacting angrily to being held back by Jordanian player Amer Jamous. The altercation marked a sour end to an otherwise competitive encounter between both sides.
Speaking on the Alexander Yaa Digg Podcast, Iwobi admitted his reaction was inappropriate and extended an apology to teammates, coaching staff, and Nigerian supporters.
“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off,” he said.
The former Arsenal FC player stressed his determination to learn from the episode, noting that despite the setback, the team secured a draw and avoided defeat.
Iwobi, who currently plays for Fulham FC, added that he remains focused on improving his discipline and contributing positively in future matches.
