Veteran media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, the founder of EbonyLife TV, has shared insights into her remarkable decision to leave a stable and prestigious career in the oil and gas industry at the age of 40 to pursue her passion in media.

Speaking at a recent conference on career growth and personal development, Abudu described the move as a calling that went beyond conventional career logic.

“I left my stable 9‑to‑5 oil and gas job at 40 to follow mine. It was a really nice job and there was no reason to leave, but I knew God wanted me to do something else,” she told the audience.

Before making the transition, Abudu had held senior roles in human resources and training at ExxonMobil, where she earned recognition for her leadership and professional expertise.

Despite the security and prestige that came with her corporate position, Abudu felt compelled to step out of her comfort zone. She emphasized that the desire to create a broader impact and follow her true passion ultimately guided her decision.

Her journey highlights the potential rewards of pursuing purpose over convention and has become an inspiration for professionals considering career reinvention later in life.
