Concerns have been raised over a theft incident that disrupted a regular football gathering in Ikoyi, Lagos, after an unidentified man allegedly made away with several mobile phones belonging to participants during a game session.

Okey Bakassi disclosed the incident in a video message, explaining that he and a group of professionals who usually meet every Wednesday at a football field in Ikoyi, Lagos for recreational football were targeted during what initially appeared to be a harmless encounter.

According to him, the situation unfolded when a young man, unknown to the group, approached the players and requested to join the game. Seeing no reason for suspicion, the group allowed him to participate.

The comedian noted that shortly after joining the session, the individual allegedly pretended to sustain an injury. He then moved to a bench to rest—creating an opportunity that was reportedly used to steal eight mobile phones belonging to players before leaving the field unnoticed.

Bakassi added that the incident has since been reported to the appropriate authorities, with efforts underway to track down the suspect. He also revealed that a ₦5 million bounty has been placed on the individual believed to be responsible for the theft.

The episode has sparked concern among regular users of the recreational facility, highlighting growing unease around security even in informal social and sporting environments.
