According to Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman, 21-year-old artist D4vd (born David Burke) faces a murder charge over the killing of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas.
Prosecutors allege that Rivas, who had been missing for nearly 18 months, was found dead in September 2025. Her decomposed remains were discovered inside the front trunk of a vehicle registered to the musician. Authorities said the car had been left parked for weeks in a residential area of the Hollywood Hills before it was eventually towed to an impound facility.
Workers at the lot reportedly alerted police after noticing a strong, foul odor coming from the vehicle, leading to the discovery that would later form the basis of the case against Burke.
The arrest marks a dramatic fall for D4vd, who rose to prominence in 2022 after recording music on his phone for gaming clips, particularly tied to Fortnite. His breakout track, Romantic Homicide, went viral on social media and helped secure him a recording contract with Interscope Records.
Burke was expected to appear in court for arraignment on Monday afternoon, as the case continues to draw widespread attention and raise questions about the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s disappearance and death.
