Speaking during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 28, 2026, the 35-year-old actor and aspiring country music artist explained that practicality, not publicity, drove his decision. After recently furnishing a condominium in Los Angeles, he said he was reluctant to repeat the process in Tennessee. “I didn’t want to get an apartment because I literally just got a condo in L.A. and I furnished it. I didn’t want to do that again,” he shared.
Instead, Hanks settled into a Jayco Eagle RV parked in a Nashville trailer community, after initially rotating between short-term rentals and hotels. A previous stay in an Airstream during a trip to Northern California helped reshape his view of mobile living, convincing him that an RV could offer both comfort and convenience.
Describing the setup, he noted that the vehicle includes basic amenities such as a kitchen and a walk-in shower—features he admitted are surprisingly comfortable for a trailer park environment. What began as a lifestyle experiment has since evolved into a more stable routine.
Beyond convenience, Hanks said the experience has introduced him to a surprisingly welcoming community. Contrary to common stereotypes, he described his neighbours—many of them retirees—as “great people,” highlighting a sense of connection he didn’t expect when making the move.
His time in Nashville is also aligning with his growing focus on music. Performing with his band, Something Out West, Hanks recently appeared at the Stagecoach Festival, marking a milestone in his emerging country music career. The performance drew added attention when his father, Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, was seen in the audience supporting him as the group performed their track “You Better Run.”
Reflecting on the moment, he described it as significant but nerve-wracking, noting it was only their second live performance. Still, the appearance underscored a growing momentum in his shift from screen roles toward music.
For Hanks, the RV lifestyle appears to be less about retreat and more about reinvention—an attempt to simplify logistics while focusing on creative growth. As his career evolves, so too does his definition of stability, shaped less by property ownership and more by mobility, music, and personal direction.
