American rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on a drug trafficking charge tied to an ongoing 2025 investigation, marking another serious legal development in a long-running history of court cases involving the artist.

According to reports, the rapper was taken into custody on Wednesday and booked into the Orange County Corrections Department over allegations connected to trafficking MDMA, a synthetic stimulant commonly known as ecstasy. Booking records indicated that Kodak appeared stern in his latest mugshot, reflecting a noticeably different image from his usual public persona.

Kodak Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, has strongly disputed the allegations, arguing that the case lacks sufficient legal grounding and should not have been filed in its current form.

Cohen maintained that the rapper actually cooperated with authorities and surrendered voluntarily as part of a coordinated legal arrangement linked to a November 2025 incident.

“We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed,” he said.

The defence also pushed back on the prosecution’s evidence, which stems from a prior police search during the earlier investigation.

According to law enforcement accounts referenced in reports, officers searched a vehicle in connection with the case but did not find Kodak Black inside at the time. However, they allegedly recovered a bag containing several items, including a bottle of prescription cough syrup said to bear the rapper’s fingerprint.

Prosecutors later linked that discovery to the current trafficking charge.

Cohen, however, insists the evidence is insufficient to support the severity of the accusation and says the legal team is prepared to challenge it aggressively in court.

The arrest adds to the rapper’s well-documented history with law enforcement. Over the years, Kodak Black has faced multiple legal issues, including charges related to drugs, weapons possession, assault, battery, and trespassing.

Despite these recurring legal troubles, he has remained a prominent figure in hip-hop, maintaining strong commercial success and a loyal fan base while continuing to release music.

Authorities have not yet released a court date or additional details regarding the next phase of proceedings.

For now, the case remains in its early stages, with both prosecution and defence presenting sharply different interpretations of the evidence and circumstances surrounding the arrest.
