Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has voiced concern over the growing insecurity across Nigeria, urging authorities to empower citizens to defend themselves against increasing attacks and violence.
Kadiri made the statement in a post shared on her social media page Tuesday, where she lamented the persistent killings, fear and uncertainty affecting many communities across the country.
Reacting to the worsening security situation, the actress wrote:
“Give us power to defend ourselves.”
She noted that many Nigerians now feel vulnerable and abandoned as insecurity continues to threaten lives and property in several parts of the nation.
According to Kadiri, safety should not be treated as a privilege but as a fundamental right every citizen deserves. She stressed the need for stronger protection measures and practical solutions from authorities to address the growing concerns.
Her comments quickly sparked conversations online, with many Nigerians agreeing with her frustrations and calling for urgent action from the government and security agencies.
One user, @EmekaTalks, wrote:
“Ruth Kadiri only said what millions of Nigerians are afraid to say. People are tired of living in fear.”
Another user, @DebbieWrites, added:
“The government should secure lives first. Citizens should not have to beg for safety.”
Kadiri’s remarks add to the increasing number of public figures speaking out over insecurity and the need for stronger measures to protect citizens across the country.
