The Macallan has unveiled Diamonds Are Forever Limited Release in Nigeria, marking the latest expression in its collaboration with the James Bond franchise. Created to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the iconic film, the release follows the James Bond 60th Anniversary Collection unveiled in 2022 and continues a partnership that celebrates two brands recognised for craftsmanship, heritage and enduring cultural appeal.
Rather than recreating the film, The Macallan draws inspiration from its legacy. The collectible presentation features artwork inspired by original production materials preserved in the James Bond archives, while the whisky itself reflects the distillery's commitment to exceptional whisky making.
Crafted by Whisky Maker Russell Greig, the expression was distilled in 2007 before spending 18 years maturing in bespoke hybrid casks of sherry-seasoned European and American oak, alongside American oak casks previously seasoned with red wine. Bottled at 45.5 per cent ABV, the whisky offers aromas of ‘\polished oak, vanilla bean and dried fruits, layered with notes of caramel, cocoa, coffee, figs, berries and gentle spice.
Speaking on the release, Hammed Adebiyi, Senior Brand Manager, West and Central Africa, Edrington Portfolio, said the expression reflects The Macallan's continued commitment to introducing remarkable whisky experiences to Nigerian consumers.
“Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release represents everything The Macallan stands for, exceptional craftsmanship, patience and an unwavering commitment to quality. While the collaboration celebrates an iconic cultural legacy, the whisky itself remains a reflection of our dedication to creating extraordinary single malts. We are delighted to introduce this remarkable limited expression to Nigeria and invite collectors and whisky enthusiasts to experience its distinctive character”
To mark the arrival of the release, The Macallan hosted exclusive tasting experiences in Lagos and Abuja, where invited guests explored the inspiration behind the expression while gaining a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship, heritage and character that define every bottle. The intimate events brought together whisky enthusiasts, collectors and guests for an immersive introduction to the limited release.
The release also reflects the growing relationship between premium spirits and cultural storytelling. For collectors, it represents another chapter in The Macallan's association with one of cinema's most recognisable franchises. For whisky enthusiasts, it offers an opportunity to experience a limited expression that combines meticulous cask selection with a story that has endured across generations.
As appreciation for premium single malts continues to grow in Nigeria, Diamonds Are Forever brings together two enduring legacies, James Bond and The Macallan, in a release that celebrates craftsmanship, storytelling and the enduring appeal of collectible whisky.
