An independent support and public enlightenment movement, KOVI 2027, has been launched to promote the vision and policy proposals of Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for Lagos State, with a focus on deepening public understanding of Ìlérí Èkó (The Lagos Promise).

Anchored on four defining pillars — Knowledge, Opportunity, Vision and Inclusion — the movement seeks to make Hamzat’s manifesto more accessible to residents by simplifying its proposals, encouraging informed discussions and promoting greater public participation in governance.

Coordinator of KOVI 2027, Dapo Saheed, said the initiative was established on the belief that political participation should extend beyond campaign activities and slogans to include meaningful public engagement and policy awareness.

“The movement believes political participation should go beyond campaign slogans,” Saheed said, stressing that Lagos residents deserve the opportunity to understand the policies, priorities and commitments of candidates seeking to lead the state.

He explained that KOVI 2027 would use community engagement, media programmes and digital platforms to educate residents on the manifesto's proposals, particularly in critical areas such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, transportation, employment, security and economic opportunities.

The movement will also place emphasis on Hamzat’s experience in public service, using the central narrative, “MPC – The Most Prepared Candidate,” to present his leadership journey and record in government.

Hamzat, who has served Lagos State in various strategic capacities over the years, was Commissioner for Science and Technology and Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure before becoming Deputy Governor in 2019.

His more than two decades of public service and leadership experience, alongside his academic qualifications, including a doctorate from Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, are among the credentials KOVI 2027 intends to bring to public attention for consideration by Lagos residents.

Under the theme, “He Aspired. He Served. He Learned. He Seeks to Lead,” the movement plans to examine his professional journey, experience in policy formulation and implementation, as well as his proposals for the future development of Lagos.

To achieve its objectives, KOVI 2027 will adopt a grassroots and multimedia communication strategy designed to reach different segments of the state's population.

Its activities will include social media explainers, radio and television discussions, community conversations, youth-focused engagements and the distribution of printed information materials.

The movement also plans to communicate in English, Yoruba and Pidgin to ensure that its messages reach residents across Lagos State's 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.

Beyond promoting Hamzat's vision, the initiative said it would prioritise factual communication, transparency and constructive dialogue, while making a clear distinction between proposed policy commitments and achievements already recorded.

It also intends to encourage residents to ask questions, scrutinise proposals and participate in conversations about the direction of the state.

Saheed said KOVI 2027 remained open to engagement with individuals and organised groups, including community associations, youth organisations, market associations, professionals and other stakeholders interested in understanding the ideas and proposals shaping Lagos State's future.
