In Washington DC, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan says Delta state has so far invested over N15 billion (about $93.7M) into the Federal government’s Independent Power Project (IPP) as part of the state’s
counterpart funding to boost power generation and distribution in the state.
Stressing the importance of electricity to the economic development of the state, the governor added that the counterpart funding is in “addition to the many transmission and distribution projects being
carried out by the state government to ensure improved power supply in the state.”

Dr. Uduaghan stated this on Wednesday while speaking on the topic titled “Nigeria’s Delta and Security Challenges: Using the Delta beyond oil strategy” at the School of Advanced International Studies
    (SAIS) John Hopkins, Washington, DC.
To take advantage of the huge commercial activities in Onitsha markets and its environs, the Governor told the audience that the state has completed the Asaba international airport, while work is on-going on the expansion of the existing airport at Osubi.
Gov. Uduaghan also explained that his administration has invested huge amount of money on Agriculture, Education, Security and Youth Empowerment in the state even as he called on the Deltans in the Diaspora to come home to join in the development of the state.

His words “We believe there are eminent Deltans in the diaspora who have both technical expertise and the web of contacts to bring to the table for the overall development of Delta state…in fact deltas in the
    US have been most supportive”
