Voters Pass Vote Of No-Confidence On Senator Aloysius Etok, Initiates Recall

    Senator Aloysius Etok

The political travails of Senator Aloysius Etok representing Akwa Ibom North West/Ikot Ekpene senatorial district appears to be growing deeper as voters in the senatorial district have passed a vote of no confidence on him.
The Ikot Ekpene constituents in a unanimous voice vote, passed the vote of no confidence on the embattled Senator and promptly resolved to initiate his recall.
The motion for his recall was moved by Engineer Iboro Ekanem, who formerly served as the former campaign manager to Senator Etok.

It would be recalled that chairmen of 10 local government areas in the senatorial district had earlier issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Senator to retract his media outbursts against the state governor; Godswill Akpabio, over the battle for the senatorial seat in 2015.
That ultimatum expires today, Wednesday May 1st, 2013.

Every attempt to get Senator Etok to react to the recall move and vote of no-confidence was unsuccessful but one of his aides who spoke to our source in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital, off camera, assured that the Senator will react when the time is right.
The Senator who was the centre of an election rigging confession by Governor Godswill Akpabio has suddenly fell out with the Governor over the candidacy of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district in 2015 general elections.
    Governor Godswill Akpabio

Mr Akpabio was embroiled in an election rigging controversy when he openly confessed that he scratched off the name of another aspirant for Mr Etok to emerge a Senator. But the Governor later explained that he was ‘misunderstood‘ because the changing of names was done ahead of the party primaries and election during the party leaders talk.

The state governor who is rounding off his second term in office, revealed to us in an exclusive interview that he will be running for the Senate in the 2015 elections as demanded by his people for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district.
Senator Etok is currently representing Ikot Ekpene senatorial district in the National Assembly and while speaking on a radio programme on issues of the state, Senator Etok, is reported to have declared that “the seat was not vacant.”
He is also reported to have stated that the governor should have consulted with him before going public with his ambition to contest for his current seat in the Senate.

He alleged earlier in the week that, the state governor has deployed a killer squad to eliminate him as deadly text messages are sent to his phone numbers.
The governor has promptly denied the existence of such killer squad.
