NAPTIP Urges FG To Give More Support To Trafficked Persons

The Executive Secretary of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP) says the rehabilitation of trafficked people should be given as much attention as fighting the crime itself.

Mrs Beatrice Jedy-Agba argues that while human trafficking remains a national challenge, rehabilitation of the victims is a bigger worry as many of them slip back into the same crime they were once rescued from.

She calls for more financial support to enable rehabilitated victims that have been trained in entrepreneurship, start-up small businesses.

In the meantime, the agency has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERFUND) and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to provide loans at subsidised rates for the victims.
