A Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State, Tuesday, ordered that a 33-year-old man be remanded in prison for allegedly having anal sex with a boy aged 9.
The presiding judge, Mr Vincent Gwahemba, ordered that the accused, of no fixed address, be remanded until August 14, when further mention of the case would begin.
Gwahemba said the court was using its powers under Section 183 of the Criminal Procedure Code to remand the accused to enable the police conclude investigations.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Stephen Kwaza, had told the court that on July 18, at Masaka, Nasarawa State, the accused lured the nine-year-old boy into his apartment and forcefully had anal sex with him.
The prosecutor said that the offence is punishable under Section 284 of the Penal Code, adding that the offence is not bailable.
However, the accused had pleaded not guilty to the offence.
