IDS AFrica Explains Success Behind Channels TV Mobile App

Manager of IDS Africa, Toyin Ogunlade on Friday explained the rationale behind the success of Nigeria’s multiple award winning television station’s mobile application in the Google Play store as well as the Apple store.
Ogunlade attributed the success of the app to the “Channels TV Team” adding that “they have been absolutely fantastic; they have got a great brand and fantastic content”.
He further noted that “this obviously is the reason for the fast movement”.
Ogunlade was speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast flagship programme, Sunrise Daily.

He also revealed that IDS Africa has developed a lot of apps for Channels TV, including the one that tops the charts in the Google Play and Apple stores adding that IDS Africa also provides internet bandwith for Nigeria’s television station of the decade.

Speaking on how the Channels TV’s mobile application topped the chart ahead of foreign news agencies and social media giants, Ogunlade said “the stores have an algorithm that measures the rate of user  interaction with various apps in the store, regardless of how long these apps have been in the store”
“It is a metric that measures user interaction and based on that interaction, it gives the app a position” he adds.

Ogunlade described IDS Africa as “a one stop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) shop” adding that “we major in application development and we also do internet service provision and offer a host of other ICT products”.

Citing the challenge most Nigerians face with bandwith connections, Ogunlade said IDS Africa “populates all the stories and load it on the phone…..so its local on the device now and when the splash screen comes up and spend a couple of seconds, its loading all the stories and after then  it’s going to be a seamless experience for the users” he said.
