Hon Justice Rakiya Ogar, Mother of evicted contestant in the ongoing X Factor singing reality television show, Ankara Boi, says the show is a great springboard to launch her son’s music career.

She spoke at a reception held for Ankara Boi at the family residence at Apo, Abuja, on Saturday following his elimination from the show last week. Justice Ogar said while she wished her son had stayed longer and gone on to win the coveted prize, the family was not sad over his eviction.

“What he has achieved is much more than money. To have made it to the last seven contestants out of thousands that started off in West Africa is phenomenal. I have no doubt in my mind that the X Factor show will be the platform that will launch my son into stardom,” Justice Oga stated. She expressed appreciation to Glo for bringing X Factor to Africa, thus making it possible for Ankara Boi and other talents to utilize the platform to showcase their singing skills.

She noted that his son was a very innovative young man who needed the X Factor exposure, and assured that, in a short while, Nigerians would hear from the Ankara Boi.

Earlier, Ankara Boi had arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 12.35 p.m. to a warm reception from friends, fans, family members and Glo officials. He was ushered into a waiting Range Rover HSE which led a convoy of cars to the War College quarters, Apo, residence of his father, Major General Patrick Ogar.

His arrival at the family home was greeted with fanfare as guests who were anxiously waiting broke into dancing and jubilation when the convoy came to a halt in front of his father's house.

Ankara Boi whose real name is Michael Inalegwu Ogah is a 23-year-old law graduate of University of Abuja. He entered the competition with his singing partner, Damola Boaz, a 500 engineering student of the same university.

However, Damola pulled out of the show when his department was moved to Minna Campus of Uniabuja. Michael went solo and has made it to the Top 9. He formed the group Ankara Boiz five years ago with Damola after he heard him playing a guitar and liked his performance. He is from Oturkpo, Benue State.

The rising artiste was the third contestant to be evicted from the show. SmoothBoiz and DNA Twins had earlier been eliminated.
