Citibank Nigeria has written to the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) saying that it does not have any account relationship with Adold Engineering Company Limited.
The bank stated this in response to a request from the NFIU for information on the engineering company’s account.
Adold Engineering Company Limited, linked to Aminu Suleiman Lamido, son of Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, was allegedly used in terrorist financing and money laundering.
But Citibank explained in the letter to the director, NFIU that: “We have searched our records and confirm that we do not have account relationship with Adold Engineering Company Limited.”
The bank also maintained that no member of its staff was detained by the State Security Service (SSS) over the matter.
