It will be
recalled that Ayo Fayose not only polled over 200,000 in the election, while
Governor Fayemi polled about 120,000 and lost in all the local governments in
the state.
Information reaching First Weekly from very reliable sources is that Governor Kayode Fayemi was actually blackmailed by the PDP to concede victory or risk going to jail.
Some highly
reliable sources revealed that the PDP dug deep into the alleged financial
impropriety of the Governor including the allegations that he has a University
in neighbouring Ghana.
According to a
stalwart of the PDP, “Fayemi was given two options; the first is that the would
rig the election and they told him that he should concede victory and that he
should not make any attempt to take the matter to a court of law, which could
upturn the victory of the PDP. He was also told to prevail on his party, APC
not to take the matter to court. The second option is that he should make a
noise and his secrets would be exposed and then he would be exposed and go to
jail.”
The source further
told us that it would be recalled that election materials did not get to the
centres until 8am, and that one would be shocked if the number of the people
that voted is compared to the number of registered voters in the election.
We were further
informed that the events that played themselves out after the whole exercise is
an indication that ‘Governor Fayemi wants to play safe so that he would not go
the way of those, who have proven stubborn in the past and paid dearly for it.’
