The immediate
past governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Gen.
Adetunji Olurin (Rtd.), whose inactivity in the unfolding twist and turns in
the political drama in the country and Ogun State in particular has confounded
many, is presently in no position to jostle for or campaign for any elective
office in the country now or in the immediate future unless there is a divine
intervention.
“I can tell you
that the man is seriously sick and this ailment has taken him to several
highbrow hospitals in and outside the country without any succour, this is of
course a great concern for his family and close circle of friends,’ a close
associate who begged for anonymity revealed to us last week.
The source
revealed that Adetunji Olurin, who is now a shadow of himself, is now confined
to his Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos home and this is known to a few of his
family members and circle of friends including ex president Olusegun Obasanjo,
who is known to be his benefactor and confidant.
What some people
close to the Olurins are now saying is that it is very sad to see the ex-general,
who has given so much to the country, having served in various capacities in
his military carrier as a governor and even as a former commander of the ECOWAS
Monitoring Group (ECOMOG), in this sorry state and everybody is carrying on as
if this man never contributed to the growth of this nation.
‘Even the party
he belongs to doesn’t and they are not even aware of his present state and they
are carrying on as if this man was never an integral part of them. If this can
happen to a person of Olurin’s calibre, then who are we? We leave all to God
and pray that His healing hands will be on him and he recovers from this
ailment and put the devil to shame,’ the family source lamented to us.
