Sequel to our
story on the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in
Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, on his alleged romantic affair with a Yoruba actress,
Folake Shadare, the man in the middle of the storm has reacted to the issue.
In a telephone
conversation with the Publisher of First Weekly magazine, Mr Dayo
Asaju, Mr Agbaje explained that his relationship with the drop-dead actress ended
in 2007 during his then gubernatorial election, where he flew the flag of the
deregistered Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA), which he eventually lost to
the incumbent governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) of the then Action
Congress (AC).
Mr Agbaje said
since then, he has not had anything to do with the actress, stressing that he
never had a fling or a romantic relationship with her.
“Infact, I can’t
even figure her out again, I think we got to know her through one Fatimah. Fatimah
works for Aeroland (Segun Adewale). You can call her to confirm this,” he said.
In our last story,
a source who claimed to be aware of the alleged affair between Mr Agbaje and
the actress, told us that, “A couple of years back, Folake and Jimi became
intimately close and in a matter of months, news filtered out that the actress
was two or three months pregnant and the father to be was J.K. Some of Folake’s
friends advised her to keep the baby, but J.K would hear nothing of sort.
“He said after
eight grown-ups, he was done with being a new father. After much pressure, he
paid Folake N1.2M to take care of herself. I cannot confirm what happened to
the pregnancy. You can make your own deduction, but weeks after she was given
the money, she bought herself a Toyota Jeep, Rav 4. I think that was more than
enough consolation for her part in the relationship.”
Another source had
also claimed that Folake was the brain behind the then ‘Artistes For Jimi
Agbaje,’ campaign, which urged Lagosians to cast their votes for Mr Agbaje at
the election.
Mr Agbaje had
angrily left the AC in 2007 alongside some other party members. They were angry
that the former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, threw his full
weight behind Mr Fashola.
They had accused
Tinubu of imposing Fashola on them. When they felt Fashola did not
democratically get the party’s governorship slot, they left the party for DPA.
