New Android Flagship Defeats Huawei P20 Pro, Google Pixel 3

HUAWEI P20 Pro and the Google Pixel 3 have just been defeated by a fresh Android challenger, according to a new report.
Huawei P20 Pro and the Google Pixel 3 are both renowned for their camera systems; the former was the first smartphone to come with three lenses and a dedicated night mode within its software.

Pixel 3 takes a very different approach to photography when compared to the Chinese device - the handset comes with a single 12.2-megapixel sensor on its rear that harnesses Google's clever processing techniques to produce gorgeous snaps.
Just like the P20 Pro, the Pixel 3 has a dedicated mode for taking photos in low-light conditions.
Dubbed Night Sight, the feature does work slightly better than the similar mode offered on the Huawei product.

Express.co.uk adored the camera systems of both flagships, as was noted in our reviews for them.
While the duo are incredibly capable when it comes to photography, it appears both have been conquered by a new Android flagship from Chinese OEM Honor.
DxOMark, an outlet renowned for thoroughly putting smartphone cameras through their paces, recently reviewed the new Honor 20 Pro's rear array and awarded it an overall score of 111.

Such a figure suggests the Honor 20 Pro's quad-camera setup is incredibly capable.
Honor 20 Pro comes with a 48-megapixel primary shooter that is accompanied by 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto module and a 2-megapixel snapper dedicated to macro shots.
The quartet was praised for its ability to take good photo and video while showing "no significant areas of weakness".

Concluding its review, DxOMark said: "The Honor 20 Pro makes it very close to the top of our DxOMark Mobile ranking, thanks to good photo and video performances across the board and no significant areas of weakness.
"Its zoom performance is topped only by the current number one device, the Huawei P30 Pro; and the 20 Pro’s ultra-wide-angle and macro camera, while not currently covered by our test protocol, should provide added value to many mobile photographers.

"If you’re in the market for a new smartphone with excellent imaging capabilities, the Honor 20 Pro should be very high up on your list of options, especially if you want to save a little bit of cash compared to the more established competition."
The 111 tally awarded to the Honor 20 Pro is higher than the overall rear camera scores of both the Huawei P20 Pro and the Google Pixel 3.
P20 Pro was handed a figure of 109 when it was reviewed last year while the Pixel 3 was given 101.
It is worth noting the front-facing camera system of the Honor 20 Pro was not reviewed by DxOMark, in contrast to the P20 Pro and Pixel 3.

Although DxOMark has praised the camera quality offered by the Honor 20 Pro, Express.co.uk has yet to test the hardware's arrangement of snappers.
The Chinese device was unwrapped on Tuesday, May 21, and comes with numerous features that make it appealing for the £549.99 Honor is asking for it.
In addition to its camera setup, the Honor 20 Pro touts a 6.26-inch LCD display that has the resolution of 1080x2340 and the density of 412-pixels-per-inch.

The phone sports an all-screen design but has a cutout for its selfie shooter.
Powering the Honor 20 Pro is Huawei's own Kirin 980 processor that should deliver fast performance across Google's Android 9 Pie operating system with the Chinese tech giant's own Magic UI skin running on top.
Accompanying the chipset is 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Finally, the hardware also boasts a 4,000mAh battery that should allow the device to get through at least an entire day on a single charge.
Honor has said the 20 Pro will release "soon".
Reports had emerged claiming the hardware's debut was on hold following Google's decision to revoke Huawei's licence.
Huawei is the parent company of Honor.
However, following such claims, Honor has since reaffirmed its 20 Pro handset will release in July, according to Android Authority.
