The Eagles of Carthage dropped anoter two points as they drew 1-1 against Mali in the second fixture of the 2019 AFCON group stages.
Tunisia started in an electrifying fashion, when Wahbi Khazri’s freekick shot cannoned off the woodwork to deny the Eagles of Carthage the opening goal in the fifth minute.
Khazri was once again at heart of attack for Tunisia in the 33rd minute, when Taha Yassine sent the ball to the midfielder, however, his shot missed the target by a narrow margin.
Around the one hour mark, Diadie Samassekou managed to break the deadlock for Mali as he scored directly from the corner kick following a howler from Tunisia’s goalkeeper Mouez Hassen.
Just ten minutes later, Khazri leveled things up for Tunisia. The captain’s freekick effort nestled into the back of the net after it got deflected off the wall.
After the draw, Tunisia temporarily occupy group E’s second spot with two points ahead of their final group stage clash against Mauritania.
