Liverpool Edge Closer to Title with Victory at Anfield

Martial hat-trick seals Man United win as Liverpool edge closer to EPL title
Liverpool edged closer to securing the Premier League title with a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday evening.

The champions elect eviscerated the visitors with some stunning goals. Trent Alexander-Arnold set the tone with a stunning free kick after 23 minutes, and Mohamed Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead with a smart finish just before half-time. Fabinho scored a stunning 30-yarder for Liverpool’s third, before the irrepressible Sadio Mane broke away to score the fourth after good work by Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Crystal Palace were hampered by losing Wilfried Zaha after just 15 minutes, but barely threatened for the whole match.

Liverpool now require just two points to secure the title. They can get those at Manchester City at the Etihad a week on Thursday - and will not need them at all if City fail to win at Chelsea tomorrow night.

It was a return to the old Liverpool as the Anfield club routed Crystal Palace 4-0, with one goal apiece from Mohammed Salah and Saido Mane, their African superstars.

Salah latched on to Fabinho’s lofted pass to stroke into the net on 44 minutes for a 2-0 scoreline at the interval after Trent Alexander-Arnold had earlier opened scoring with an expertly dispatched a freekick.

The Egyptian King also provided the assist for Mane to score the fourth goal with a well placed shot slotted into the bottom corner.

Following the win, Jurgen Klopp’s side will become EPL champions if Manchester City fail to defeat Chelsea on Thursday.
