Manchester City ace Fernandinho has confirmed that the diagnosis of the injury he picked up during City's 3-1 victory over Porto in the Champions League last night is "not the best."

After stepping off the bench with just five minutes of City's Champions League opener remaining, the Brazilian, who replaced Rodri, was forced off four minutes into stoppage time with a leg injury and replaced by John Stones.

It was a bitter pill for both the versatile midfielder and manager Pep Guardiola to swallow, with City having struggled massively on the injury front so far this season.

Fernandinho joins an ever-growing injury list, which already has the likes of Aymeric Laporte, Kevin De Bruyne and fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus on it.

The 35-year-old has now taken to social media confirming that the extent of the injury is not the best, with a period of time on the treatment table now right around the corner.

"The news are not the best, but I'll be back soon," the Brazilian wrote in an Instagram post. "Now it's time to work and recover.

"However, it's always great to kick-off with a win.

Fernandinho has featured in all but one of City's matches this season, highlighting just how big a loss he will be for Guardiola over the coming weeks.

Speaking after the full-time whistle at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, Guardiola confirmed that he expects to be without the midfielder for potentially up to six weeks.

The City boss said: "It is bad news with Fernandinho. He has a problem in his leg, he could be out for four or six weeks."
