With the total number of COVID-19 related deaths stand at 1,194,
the number of recoveries discharged also increased by 138.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC disclosed this
via its official Twitter handle late Saturday.
According to the statistics released by the health officials,
Lagos took the lead with 225 new cases, followed by FCT with 181, Kaduna had 125
and Adamawa reported 25 cases.
Other states affected by the virus on Saturday include Nasarawa-20,
Kano-12, Rivers-8, Edo-4, Ekiti-4, Bayelsa-3, Ogun-3, Plateau-3, Akwa Ibom-2, Delta-1
and Sokoto-1.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has conducted about 838,333
tests since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was
announced.
In summary, according
to the health agency, on the 12th of December 2020, 617 new confirmed cases and
4 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
Till date, 72,757 cases have been confirmed, 65,850 cases have been discharged and 1,194 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Our discharges today include 74 community recoveries in Lagos State and 44 community recoveries in Kaduna State managed in line with guidelines.
