    535 New COVID-19 Cases, 5 Deaths Recorded in Nigeria

    Nigeria is continuing to experience an increase in COVID-19 cases, with over 500 cases on Wednesday.

    Nigeria Centre  for Disease Control NCDC’s COVID-19 online dashboard shows that, Nigeria on Wednesday logged 535 new cases of COVID-19 in 17 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    The country also reported 5 more COVID-19 related deaths and 49 recoveries, as the active number of cases in the country increased from 4,747 to 5,228.

    The day also saw new cases, continuing to outnumber the discharges.

    Lagos topped the list of positive cases, with 219, followed by Akwa-Ibom, Oyo and Rivers with 142, 47 and 17 respectively.

    While Jigawa and Edo reported 13 cases each, 11 cases each were found in Ekiti and Bayelsa.

    Ondo had 10 cases, Osun reported 9, Plateau had 8, Ogun and Kaduna reported 7 cases each.

    Kano and FCT reported 5 cases each, Imo and Gombe with 4 cases each and Nasarawa recorded 3 cases.

    Today's report includes data from Oyo State recorded over the last two days.

    Deaths reported from Akwa Ibom State for the 26th of July, 2021

    And 0 cases reported from Sokoto State.

    There have been 172,263 cumulative COVID-19 cases in Nigeria. Of those, 164,886 people have been discharged after recovered from the illness, and 2,139 have died due to COVID-19 since the first case relating to the disease caused by coronavirus was announced in February 27 last year.
