Today’s report includes deaths reported in Lagos State on
the 25th of August 2021, according to the health authorities.
The country also registered 618 new COVID-19 cases on Friday,
the data released by Nigeria Centre for
Disease Control NCDC on its verified website shows.
The health authorities noted that with the new addition, the
country’s COVID-19 tally rose to 190,333 across the 36 states and the Federal Capital
Territory.
The country had now successfully treated and discharged 169,815
COVID-19 patients since the beginning of the pandemic, as the country’s recoveries
increased by 189 on Friday.
As the health authorities battle the third wave of the
COVID-19 pandemic, Nigeria’s active coronavirus infections rose to 18,210 on
Friday, an increase of 419 from 17,791 its was the previous day .
NCDC stated that the new cases were reported in 14 states
and the FCT.
Lagos State, the country’s hotspot for the management of
severe COVID-19 patients at isolation facilities, reported 312 additional
Infections, over half of the total cases of the day.
Follwed by Akwa Ibom, Edo and Rivers with 89, 71 and 47
respectively.
Other states with new infections on Friday as follows Ekiti-20,
Plateau-20, Delta-15, Kwara-13, FCT-11, Osun-8, Oyo-4, Ogun-3, Benue-3, Gombe-1
and Kaduna-1.
NCDC also added that five states
- Abia, Nasarawa, Ondo, Sokoto and Zamfara reported no COVID-19 infections on Friday.
