The nation registered two additional fatalities from the coronavirus pandemic in last 24 hours, with 711 new cases reported across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory, the nation’s highest daily figure within the last six weeks.
The last highest figure was 727 cases, reported on September 9.
With an additional 295
cases now considered to be resolved, the nation’s known active caseload sits at
5,613, about 414 higher active infections than reported Sunday.
Overall, the health
officials said that, since the first COVID-19 case were reported in the nation
on February 27, 2020, there have been, 211,171 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19,
including 202,674 recoveries and 2,884 deaths.
Its also stated that,
about 91,443 additional tests were completed between Monday Oct. 18th to Oct. 25th.
Nigeria has now administered a total of 3,298,966 tests since the beginning of
the pandemic.
Of the new cases, Delta
state accounted for the maximum number of 508 cases, which are backlogs for
July 27 - October 13th.
Followed by Plateau, Rivers
and FCT with 41, 40 and 32 respectively.
NCDC noted that the 41
confirmed cases reported from Plateau state are for October 24th & 25th.
Also 32 confirmed
cases, 67 discharged cases (including community discharges) reported from FCT are
for October 24th & 25th.
Other states with new
cases as follows Enugu-24, Lagos-19, Imo-16, Cross River-9, Ekiti-9, Abia-4, Benue-3,
Kano-3, Bauchi-1, Bayelsa-1 and Ogun-1.
NCDC added that 19 confirmed
cases reported from Lagos state are for October 24th & 25th.
Sixteen confirmed
cases, 11 community discharged cases reported from Imo state are for October
24th & 25th.
Twenty-four confirmed
cases reported from Enugu state are for October 24th & 25th.
Three confirmed cases
reported from Benue state are for October 23rd.
And four confirmed
cases, 20 discharged cases reported from Abia state are for October 24th.
Ondo, Osun and Sokoto states
are the only three states on Monday with no cases reported.
