    NCDC Registers Three Deaths, 145 New COVID-19 Cases

    Nigeria is seeing progress in the fourth wave fight against COVID-19, with numbers continuing to trend downward.

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC registered 145 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the West Africa country on Saturday, a significant increase from 35 cases reported on Friday.

    The newly recorded coronavirus infections brought the total tally to 253,685.

    NCDC on its confirmed twitter handle said that the new cases were recorded from 9 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

    According to the health officials, Imo State recorded 65 cases of the virus, but the 65 confirmed cases reported in Imo State were backlog of 3rd Feb.

    While Lagos, the epicentre of the virus reported 36 cases on Saturday, NCDC noted that the 36 confirmed cases reported in Lagos State are for 4th (22) & 5th (14) Feb.

    And Ondo in third position on Saturday reported 20 new cases of the virus.

    Others are Kano-6, Osun-6, Rivers-6, FCT-3, Delta-1, Kaduna-1 and Ogun-1.

    Meanwhile, zero cases were reported from Abia, Ekiti, Oyo and Sokoto States in the past 24 hours.

    Three additional COVID-19-related deaths occurred after four straight days of no death linked to the virus. Meanwhile, NCDC reported another 144 recoveries from coronavirus over the last 24 hours. Which includes 16 community discharged cases reported in Imo State 3rd Feb.

    After new COVID-19 active cases fell in recent days from their record-high peak in January. Total active COVID-19 cases now stand at 20,509, - up from 20,422 it was the previous day.

    With the new update the health officials, NCDC revealed that till date, a total of 253,685 cases have been confirmed, 230,126 cases discharged and 3,139 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
