The health officials said the newly recorded
infections were from Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Lagos State,
noting that the reported data is for 19th and 20th of April 2022.
Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and second
most affected by the pandemic reported six cases and Lagos, the epicentre of the
virus in Nigeria had three cases.
While six other states reported zero cases:
Delta, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Rivers and Sokoto.
NCDC made these known via its social media handles,
noting that the nine new infections was a decrease from the twenty-two infections
reported between 16th and 18th of April.
It added that the fatality toll in the country
now stood at 3,143, with total number of 255,679 confirmed cases and a total of
249,886 Nigerians have been discharged across the country since the outbreak.

However, the health officials on 16th - 18th of April reported 22 cases in three states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The breakdown as follows: Lagos-10, Nasarawa-6,
FCT-3 and Rivers-3.
While Abia, Delta, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau and
Sokoto reported no cases of the virus.
The confirmed cases increased the country’s
infection toll to 255,670, while a total of 249,879 have now been treated and
discharged and 3,143 people have lost their lives nationwide since the outbreak
of the pandemic two years ago.
The disease control centre noted that the cases
are cumulative data for 16th - 18th of April, 2022.
Nigeria’s active COVID-19 cases dropped by 142. As at April 18th, total number of active cases stands at 2,653 from 2,795 cases it was on April
8.
