Goldberg, a name synonymous with premium quality and rich heritage, is embarking on a strategic journey with the introduction of its iconic, first-of-its-kind beer lager — Goldberg Black Lager, a dark lager marked with hints of caramel, hops, and malt flavour to the young Nigerian demographics.
In an exciting and culturally remarkable move, Nigerian Breweries PLC, a leading player in the Nigerian brewing industry, has once again pushed the boundaries of innovation with the launch of Goldberg Black Lager, an exceptional addition to the Nigerian beer landscape, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, and adheres to the highest brewing standards.
The new entrant aims to disrupt the traditional lager beer
offerings and redefine the beer experience.
Inspired by the rich tapestry of African culture, known for
its celebration of individuality and resilience, Goldberg Black Lager targets
the African demographic. This remarkable brew pays tribute to the continent’s
diverse heritage and vibrant spirit, creating a sense of pride among its
consumers.
As described by the Corporate Affairs Director, Nigeria
Breweries PLC, Sade Morgan, Goldberg Black symbolises black culture and the
brewing tradition of Africans in using natural ingredients for the perfect beer
blend.
“The beverage embodies a true essence of three things: first is tradition. With Goldberg Black, we are proudly cultural. We are proud of our roots. The second is innovation. Where else but in Nigerian breweries can you get a lager and one that is black? And that shows that we are stepping and we are bringing you with us into the modern world, the third being modernity,” Morgan noted.
She added, “It’s not just a beer, it is a celebration of our
roots, our culture, and very proud craftsmanship as a people. Nigerians are one
of the most creative people on earth, and this is something that we have
brought together through tireless dedication, creative exploration, and
unwavering commitment to delivering a product that stands as a testament to
Nigeria’s rich brewing heritage.”
New Product Development (NPD) Manager, The Heineken Company,
Opeyemi Kehinde expressed optimism about the light-bodied beer to connect with
consumers.
“We want to give them a beer that they can relate with and
link their heritage with. Going into pilot stages, into lab stages, having a
series of test sessions with the team to going to consumer testing, was quite
the journey,” Kehinde disclosed.
Meanwhile, the brand’s commitment to sustainability and responsible brewing practices is a noteworthy aspect that resonates with modern consumers. The brand’s efforts to promote water conservation and waste reduction align with the growing demand for environmentally conscious products.
As the iconic dark lager graces the shelves of Nigerian stores and finds its way into the hands of eager consumers, Goldberg Black’s entry into the Nigerian market is poised to redefine the standards of excellence in the alcohol beverage industry. With its rich heritage, impeccable quality, and commitment to innovation, the brand is all set to make a lasting impression on Nigeria’s vibrant beverage landscape
