Struggling to make a significant impact with Threads, the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced that the platform will be introducing an edit button for its users, free of charge.

This new feature will allow users to edit their posts as many times as they wish within five minutes of posting.

Previously, Threads users had to delete a post and repost it to correct any errors. Zuckerberg made the announcement in a post, stating that the edit button and "Voice Threads" will be launched on the platform.

Unlike X, formerly known as Twitter, which charges for the edit feature, Threads will be offering it to users at no additional cost. The edit button will be available on both mobile and web platforms. Additionally, Threads is reportedly preparing to launch a Trends feature to compete with X.

Screenshots of the potential feature were shared by an app developer, revealing a numbered list of trending topics and the number of active discussions for each item. Meta is also planning to allow Threads users to delete their accounts without affecting their Instagram profiles by December, as currently, there is no way for Threads users to delete their accounts without deleting their Instagram accounts.

Meanwhile, the European Union has issued a formal caution to Zuckerberg, urging the billionaire to expeditiously eliminate any instances of disinformation from his platforms subsequent to Hamas's assault on Israel.

European Commissioner Thierry Breton has written a formal correspondence to Mr. Zuckerberg, notifying him that Meta, the parent company of renowned social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and Threads, is required to promptly respond and adhere to European legislation within a strict timeframe of 24 hours.

Within the letter, Breton accentuated the specific responsibilities pertaining to the moderation of content as outlined in the EU Digital Services Act, highlighting a series of significant occurrences that necessitate immediate attention.
