It also said that the institution has been granted
permission to offer additional eight new courses by the NUC and the Nursing and
Midwifery Council of Nigeria, following the successful Resource Verification
visits to the university, last year.
Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Patrick Ebewo,
announced this while addressing participants at the third matriculation
ceremony of the university held at the institution’s campus, Mkpatak, recently.
Ebewo said, “In 2023, the university applied to NUC for
permission to increase programmes offerings in the faculties of Engineering and
Applied Sciences; and to mount new programmes in Medical Sciences.
“Following the successful Resource Verification visits by
NUC and the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Topfaith University has
been granted permission to offer additional eight new academic programmes with
effect from the 2023/2024 academic session.
“These include: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Medical Laboratory
Sciences, Nursing Science and Public Health.
“Currently, the
university runs a total of 24 academic programmes against its earlier 16
programmes. All of these programmes are fully approved by the NUC, including
Law, which has received approval of the Council of Legal Education, Abuja.
“In November/December 2023, the NUC visited Topfaith for
accreditation exercise of nine programmes in the faculties of Computing and
Applied Sciences, and Management and Social Sciences. The nine accreditation
teams were very impressed with all the prorammmes as evidenced by the exit
report submitted by the VC.”
The VC told the matriculating students that the university
is committed to pursuing its philosophy, which is anchored on holistic,
harmonious education through integration of innovation and learning for the
growth and development of society.
He said the university encourages it staffs and students to
undertake research tailored towards local, national and global needs, adding
that the usual parlance of “publish or perish” is not tolerated.
The VC added that while the university pledged to instill
ethical standards and character in students, what it demands from the students
is hard work and good behaviours and respect for themselves and others
He added, “Permit me to restate that students who have
chosen Topfaith University are in good hands. The philosophy of Topfaith
University is anchored on holistic, harmonious education through integration of
innovation and learning for the growth and development of society.
“The teaching philosophy of the university is to place the
students in the centre of the learning experience – this demonstrates
student-centredness, which is hinged on competency and outcome based education
with empathy towards the learners being greatly emphasized and encouraged.
“In terms of research, Topfaith University does not pitch
camp with the notorious cliche of “publish or perish,” staff and students are
encouraged to undertake research that is responsive to local, national and
global needs.
“All we expect from you, our dear students, is to obey the
university rules and regulations and to take your studies seriously. We expect
very good behaviours from you all, you must work hard and respect yourself and
others. This is not only a teaching and learning environment, but an
institution that is poised to instill in you verifiable ethical standards and
character.
“Thus our pledge is to effect the totality of your life and
transform you into being a good citizen, who will contribute to the growth and
advancement of humanity.”
A total of 210 students in all the 24 academic programmes of
the school took the institution’s matriculation oaths.
